History

Crusader Drilling was incorporated as a private drilling rig company in 2006 by a small group of Saskatchewan and Alberta investors. The company’s main office is located in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, however, the company conducts operations in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The company began to build Rig #1 in the summer of 2008 and took delivery of the rig in Saskatchewan and commenced operations in June 2009. The company built and took delivery of Rig #2 and immediately commenced operations in November 2010 in Alberta and the rig is now primarily utilized in Saskatchewan. Rig #3 was completed and commenced operations in February 2012 and is primarily operating in Alberta. All three rigs were designed by R.A. Hodgson Industrial Design Ltd.

The rigs are all telescopic double design and built for horizontal and conventional wells throughout Western Canada. The rigs have standardized parts and equipment with energy efficient Cummins engines.

All three rigs were designed for the safety of the crews and provide the operators with state‐of‐the‐art rigs to complete the drilling projects in a cost effective timely manner.

Specialized Equipment

The company’s three rigs are relatively new, state‐of‐the‐art drilling rigs which are custom built in Western Canada to a standard model for telescopic doubles.

Rigs #2 and #3 were retrofitted in 2017 with Tesco Top Drives and the company plans to continue to update its equipment for the new drilling and completion model.

The company’s main office is located in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The company’s trained, professional and experienced crews are mostly local to the area and are very familiar with the operation of the company’s rigs, which results in a safe and efficient work environment for its employees and its customers.
